GALLATIN CO.— Despite being re-elected to a second term and the low level of convictions by state’s attorney Allen Roe over the past several years, he continues to miss the mark on numerous cases leaving many to wonder if he knows what he is doing.

This issue, Roe struggles with death threats, guns and a seemingly out-of-control teen some believe he helped create.

Death threat

Terry Vaughn, of 121C West Wilson, Ave., Shawneetown, has been charged with one count each of Aggravated Assault and Domestic Battery after authorities say on July 7 she committed an assault by use of a knife, a deadly weapon, when she pushed Ruby Tipton to the floor and threatened to cut the throat.

Vaughn was released from custody after a $5,000 recognizance bond was granted July 8.

The condition of that bond includes that Vaughn remains away from Tipton.

 Lacking specificity

John Riden, 59, of 194 East Posey Ave, Shawneetown, has been sentenced to 12 months conditional discharge after pleading guilty July 8 to a single count of Disorderly Conduct admitting that on July 4 he acted in such an unreasonable manner as to alarm and disturb Shawneetown Police Chief, Robert Boon.

In addition to the conditional discharge, Riden was also ordered to pay $627 in fines and fees and to remain away from the East Posey, Shawneetown address and away from Mary Riden.

Ozeil N. Hernandez, of 270 East Townsend, Shawneetown was also charged with Disorderly Conduct alleging that on June 28 he acted in a manor that alarmed and disturbed a Robert and/or Linda Boone.

Whether or not Robert Boon and Robert Boone are the same person, is unclear as Roe continues to astound the electorate with his inability to clearly charge individuals who have been arrested.

At any rate, Hernandez was released from custody after a $150 cash bond was posted on Hernandez’ behalf by Terry Rigsby, also of Shawneetown.

Troubled teen

In yet another blinding example of state’s attorney Allen Roe not doing his job, repeat violent offender Tyler R. Patton, 19, of 115 Green Dr., Shawneetown, has gotten in trouble again.

Patton was written about in these pages last issue in connection with a 2012 incident at NCOE High School wherein another student was injured, allegedly at Patton’s hand.

Now he is charged in Gallatin County with one count each of Criminal Damage to Property and Criminal Trespass to Property after authorities say on March 15 he knowingly entered on property belonging to William Brazer, located at Patton Camp Road and damaged property belonging to William Brazer identified as a no-till field.

The unemployed Mr. Patton was released from custody March 15 after a $150 cash bond was posted on his behalf.

Shootin’ at Delorme

Dale S. Collins, has been charged with one count each of Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Unlawful Use of Weapons and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia after authorities say on July 1 he knowingly concealed on his person, while not on his own land, a firearm uncased and loaded and that he fired the weapon near James M. Delorme in such a manner as to endanger Delorme’s safety.

Collins was also charged with being in possession of a pipe intending to use said pipe to inhale cannabis into his body.

Bond in the case has been set at $5,000 cash, should it be posted.

Conditions of the bond include Collins have no contact with James Delorme “whatsoever.”
