SALINE CO., Ill.--Apparently the pickings in Murphysboro have gotten slim enough that they're sending their crims to Saline County for alleged robbery attempts.
Such was the case last night in Carrier Mills.
There, at about 10:20 last night (Saturday, August 23, 2015), one Jeffery A. Baxter, 29, from Murphysboro, is alleged to have made threats and apparently threatened to rob employees at the village's Casey's General Store.
Authorities were called, and Officer Mike Stover was able to subdue Baxter, who, they learned upon arrival, was armed with a small handgun.
Baxter, who has a history of Robbery in Jackson County and has actually been to IDOC over it, is currently in custody at the Saline County Detention Center.
When taken into custody, Baxter had in his person a small baggie containing a white powdery substance.
We'll have more on him and this alleged robbery attempt as we get it; check back frequently as information is just now coming in.
