Perry Foster, (above), Hardin County Emergency Management Director, was head cook on the afternoon of Saturday, November 7, when Cave-in-Rock Fire Department held their annual feed. The big event is held to raise funds for kids in need in the area, and a feast is provided at the cost of a donation only. This year, there was a family in need whose kids were a little too old to participate in the regular Christmas gift event Emergency Management in Hardin has established for needy families; so the feed was held as part of a fundraising event for the family. There were three teens in the family who were asked what they wanted for Christmas from the money raised; all they asked for, Foster said, was warm clothing, “not electronics, not games, nothing like that; just decent clothes.” Foster said the community was happy to help, and the feed, which featured hamburgers, fried fish and homemade potato chips, was a great success.
