WILLIAMSON CO., Ill. - A Williamson County jury today found 22-year-old Courtney Weaver of Marion guilty of Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance within 1,000 feet of a church, a Class 1 felony.

Weaver's trial began on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, and closing arguments were made by State's Attorney Brandon Zanotti on the 7th. It took the jury approximately one hour of deliberation to make their verdict.

The Southern Illinois Enforcement Group used a confidential source in order to make a controlled purchase of cocaine from Weaver in January of 2014 in Marion.

Zanotti says cases involving confidential sources is always tricky. All the evidence was presented and he was pleased the jury found Weaver guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He says the success of this case is due to the SIEG agents, Marion Police Department and the Illinois State Police.

A sentencing hearing is set for March 4.
