Another year is upon us, and another successful delivery of a BIG issue is completed....we've put YOUR copy of the January Special Edition on the racks, in the mail or right here at the e-Edition, where you can read all the latest that's going on in the 24+ counties we cover on a regular basis. And to help you navigate through, we provide as a service the post THIS ISSUE'S PRINT HEADLINES so you can see what we're offering! We say "this issue" this time because this IS a special edition, as we have TWO papers in January...meaning e-Edition and print subscribers benefit the most because it's like getting a free issue! Thinking about signing up? Your access is just a couple of mouse-clicks away! DO IT....see what all the fuss is about!

Print Headlines are laid out like this: The dateline is first (where the activity in the article took place), followed by the headline/link (which, if you're an e-Edition subscriber, you can go right to by clicking) and then a brief synopsis in our own snarky Disclosure style. They are presented by Front Page first, followed by Back Page (our second front page), pages 2 & 3, features if any (generally presented on 12 and 13), then sections: Egypt, Heartland and Central, and finally Op-Ed. And now without further ado, we present THIS MONTH'S PRINT HEADLINES!!

FRONT PAGE

blades, rhondaWHITE CO. - Attorney subject of OP: Just a little thing we came across last week in White County's civil files about some insane-sounding alleged assault carried out by a local attorney who may or may not be pre-menopausal. Oh yeah...and, it's Rhonda Blades.

Screen Shot 2016-01-04 at 6.18.14 PMLAWRENCE CO. - Burglaries, child porn charged: The FULL account of the story we brought to you in part back in mid-December, about punks alleged to have carried out car burglaries...and one of them, child porn, which might, maybe, possibly, get him locked up for some meaningful period of time.

Screen Shot 2016-01-04 at 6.10.14 PMRICHLAND CO. - Kink put in meth-slinging at "designated place"?: Remember our gripe several years ago that David Hyde, former Richland County prosecutor, was withholding basic information about crimes occurring there, including WHERE a person was busted with meth, which is proscribed under Supreme Court Rule 3.8? Well guess what. We just found out where one of them was...and we were told about that in late 2011 by someone very involved in the drug trade who claims to be all "clean" now (yeah, right). And the arrest made at this place, and the mug on the front page, is pissing off people all across four counties so far. You gotta read this one.

SALINE CO. - Harrisburg demolition stopped temporarily over environmental hazards: Asbestos, mold: Anything to promote business in the burg, right? Except that OTHER demolitions were shut down, and there are some questions emerging about others already conducted....

Man. That is one ugly chick.

Man. That is one ugly chick.

HARDIN CO. - Where's Carrie?: That's STILL the $64,000 question. Or in Carrie Atkinson's case, just a little less, which is what it's alleged she absconded with. Find out from whom she's alleged to have stolen it, and who might've been with her when she allegedly did.

BACK PAGE

LAWRENCE CO. - Pizza perforation alleged at trailer park: Material about the weirdness surrounding the Frye (not Frey, as we were originally told, but F-R-Y-E, like in Frankie Frye, which would explain a LOT) situation in mid-December in Lawrenceville.

LAWRENCE CO. - Bridgeport resident charged in public aid fraud case: Oh snap! Someone has actually been caught allegedly defrauding the food stamps entity, SNAP. We hear there's quite a bit of that going around...

Screen Shot 2016-01-04 at 5.51.36 PMCLAY CO. - Pair of Flora men charged with running meth cook operation: Like father, like son. You hear that phrase a lot, but it seems to be happening more and more in criminal cases lately...

Screen Shot 2016-01-04 at 5.49.39 PMRICHLAND CO. - Olney sex offender doesn't notify locals of address change: When we say "sex offenders usually always reoffend," we don't always mean they attack again. All too frequently, they just simply don't register their address with the sheriff's department.

PAGE 2

RICHLAND CO. - Former Olney resident claims Bridgeport oil field responsible for her cancer: This poor gal needs to take it from us: YOU can know how your physical ailment occurred; the entity RESPONSIBLE for your physical ailment can know how it occurred. But if a doctor can't say DEFINITIVELY how that ailment occurred (in other words, unless he was pretty much RIGHT THERE when it happened)...it's really, really hard to prevail in court.

WHITE CO. - White man jailed after threatening to kill his sister: We have some brutal allegations coming out of White County this month. Like this guy.

HAMILTON CO. - Broughton 15-year-old charged with DUI: When I started working on this article, the first thing Ang did when she saw it on my screen was say "Is that an Earp or Trout?" I had to say, no, it's not...but I have to add, not that I'm aware of, anyway. It appears to be just another strain of miscreant running Appel Street in Broughton, which is vying with Claremont for most crims per capita.

CRAWFORD CO. - Hatchet attack leads to murder charge: Dude is charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, and he seems happy about it. Here's hoping that Matt Hartrich is up to the challenge.

Screen Shot 2016-01-04 at 2.42.27 PM

Riding out the rising waters in Clark County: A story of how harrowing the flood of New Year's 2016 was for one family in West Union.

EGYPT

SALINE CO. - Mother of sex abuse victims charged with telling girls to lie to protect husband: The ongoing sickness that is the situation with Jacob Foster (alleged, of course) has been underscored by this new charge...against his wife.

HARDIN CO. - Hardin prosecutor well on her way to screwing up major drug case: You know, it's just not enough that Tara Wallace lost a pot case against a defendant who was pro se; not enough that she left a guy sitting in jail for way, way longer than the Constitution allows; not enough that most prosecutors in the area scratch their heads when they hear her name. No...now, she's charging a portion of a drug in a drug case. You read that right: A PORTION. See what this is about by clicking the link.

SALINE CO. - Man who reports gunfire ends up bloody and locked up in the county jail: When you want some really messed-up stories, turn to Saline. They rarely fail to provide.

SALINE CO. - Drug suspect wants released from jail so she can be with her children; drug stash hidden near boobies: I don't have em, and I don't do drugs (both of which might explain why I find this whole thing so bizarre), but...the number of people stashing dope in bra-tas is just really, really exploding, you know?

GALLATIN CO. - Violent Equality man now facing weapons charge: Right on the eve of the statute expiring, Saline County files against Miles Maloney, who should have been put away a long time ago.

SALINE CO. - Busted for boosting booze at Harrisburg Speakeasy: Gotta hand it to Speakeasy - they know how to handle it when someone walks out with something of theirs.

SALINE CO. - Fight breaks out inside Saline County Jail: Remember the letter we got from an inmate, supposedly at the Saline County Detention Center, about all the supposed crap going on there...? Well, this, apparently, is some of the crap.

SALINE CO. - Two area men charged with escape: Another crim roundup story.

SALINE CO. - Man who accused wife of affair has guns removed: Not because he accused her. Because that wouldn't do it...no, it was something a lil different.

SALINE CO. - Suspected meth cooks caught leaving cemetery: You know me. I advocate for the prospect that NO meth cooks EVER leave a cemetery.

SALINE CO. - 'rado man goes to jail after punching officer in the face: Who DOES this?? Seriously..."I think I'll just punch this cop in the face. That shouldn't bother anybody." >.<

SALINE CO. - Dog was the only one in violence case who was not a convicted drug felon: I've already had it out with one person involved in this and one person peripheral to it. All I've got to say is...Why have you not sent the dog over to my house to chew on my ass, too?

SALINE CO. - Eldorado couple accused of attacking another couple at their Massey Road home: Another one of those odd little stories that make you say "Oh. That must've happened in Eldorado."

SALINE CO. - Theft reports include woman who took her pills shoplifting: Which is different; usually they take their kids. LOL I kill me LOL

SALINE CO. - Suspected DUI driver caught after leaving Taco Don Luna's: Taco Don's food is so good, it makes people unable to wait to get home to eat it if you order it through the drive-thru. Unfortunately, one guy is alleged to have not been able to wait til he got home to do something else, however.

HEARTLAND

IllinoisLeaks

CLARK CO. - Unlawful "confidentiality agreement" settles Clark County Park District civil FOIA suit - district cannot enforce agreement under the Constitution: What makes these public bodies continue to think they can subvert not only the Constitution but very clear state law (5 ILCS 140) is absolutely beyond us. And yet...they keep on doing it.

EDGAR CO. - Edgar County Board sued over insurance issues; contracts, money: The Edgar County board was warned. Repeatedly. If they had been reading the past three or so issues, they'd have been able to keep up with what was happening with themselves. But like so many people preferring to stay in the dark, they did not. And now...they're sued.

CLARK CO. - Former deputy clerk enters plea, gets light sentence in wake of theft: As chronicled here, Summer Shaw has opted to dispose of her case and become a convicted felon. Now, if only her mom would do the same, we'd be shut of them.

CRAWFORD CO. - Are college kids leading the way in providing fines and fees for Crawford?: The misdemeanor report, with what appears to be a whole bunch of college students from Lincoln Trail doing what college students do best: Propping up the local economy, which, in Crawford, consist more of government employment than anything else.

JASPER CO. - Drugs, theft and violence featured in Jasper crim report: The Jasper County felony report. No 6-person busts this month. Dangit.

Nina Baker, alleged hooker

Justin Smith, alleged john

Justin Smith, alleged john

CLARK CO. - Day's Inn Motel at Casey setting for prostitution arrests: The only thing keeping us from being confused about who's the alleged prostitute and who's the alleged john are the descriptions in the text. You really can't tell by the mugshots.

CENTRAL

RICHLAND CO. - Accused sex predator subject of OPs: The return of the repulsive Zac Leaf. Whose name keeps showing up in OP files across a couple of counties. One would think somebody would catch on by now...

One of many LARGE Walmart storage ottomans. You figure it out. We can't.

One of many LARGE Walmart storage ottomans. You figure it out. We can't.

RICHLAND CO. - Weed, Domestic Battery and theft of a bulky item from Olney Walmart comprise misdemeanor report: How, exactly, does one STEAL an ottoman??

CLAY CO. - Former water clerk, now convicted felon, sued over credit line debt: If anyone wonders what ol Nicci Worthey is up to these days...the answer is: Not much. If you don't count being in civil court over a complaint that she's not paying her bills.

CLAY CO. - Trio found trading meth for pills busted: Elizabeth Shelton keeps looking more and more...methy....with each subsequent mugshot.

WHITE CO. - Olney fugitive meth cook busted in Carmi Christmas Day with Angel: The crossovers between Richland County and White County and back again are mind-numbing.

HAMILTON CO. - His and hers arsons charged against McLeansboro couple: Read this article, and then post what you believe would be the best title for a country music song based on it.

RICHLAND CO. - Man was stoned when car was wrecked, another hijacked, authorities say: The follow up to the moron that is Daniel D. Schick, and what he's alleged to have done to Erin Hagen back in December.

CLAY CO. - Weird names, weird crimes and weird filings in Clay Co.: Best line in this article about Tharin/Tharen L. Harris: "Whether the kid doesn't know how to spell his name, is playing the name game...or his parents simply couldn't make up their minds on how to spell such a name (which sounds like it came from a bad 80s SciFi movie)..." Priceless.

LAWRENCE CO. - Babied druggie serving sentence when busted for methamphetamine: If you want to be coddled after your meth conviction, by all means...please commit your meth crime in Lawrence. You can get away with all KINDS of things there.

HAMILTON CO. - San Diego artist files counterclaim against McLeansboro residents in Small Claims: When all the hoopla died down over the debacle that was the McKamey Manor issue in McLeansboro, the REAL crap hit the fan in October. Here's a follow up to it...adn the feces are really flying.

WHITE CO. - Multiple misdemeanors that just missed being felonies in White: We've never seen the like of the crims that get by with a misdemeanor instead of a felony, by the skin of their teeth, like they do in White County.

LAWRENCE CO. - Lawrence inmate attacks guards with shank: Having a prison in podunk USA will get ya this.

HAMILTON CO. - Thug nicknamed after feces ignores state trooper: We don't know who it was who nicknamed this turd. We really don't.

LAWRENCE CO. - Toting pot smoking devices; retail thievery of sleeping bags, undies, highlight misdemeanors in Lawrence: Bit of a tip for those in Lawrence who keep getting busted with pipes: Leave. Your pot. At home.

WABASH CO. - Child battery, theft of mislaid property and more (including Ryan Eckiss) in Wabash County misdemeanor report: I know, I know...I thought we were rid of Ryan Eckiss, too. And then there's Sarah Kocher, who had one arresting charge magically disappear.

WABASH CO. - Meth-heads make up lion's share of drug arrests: Oh, who are we kidding. Meth-heads make of the lion's share of drug arrests EVERYWHERE, not just WabCo.

OP-ED

COLUMNS
SURLY & UNCOOPERATIVE (Jack): Creative ways to deal with those who threaten: Yes, I'm talking about THAT kind of threatening. But if you're stupid enough to take it as a direct threat, well...you're not as smart as you want people to think you are.
ICY (Ang): 'Bye, 2015: The river rises, we rise above... 2015 was a really bad year for us, and Ang has had it up to here with the haters who are trying to get in between us (this one we've added a nice vid to at the end)
GRAYGOOSE (Becky): Crowdfunding/GoFunMe, now for EVERYONE!: Even people who already have enough money at their disposal to live well...
MINKUS INK (Bubba): Starting the New Year off right with family ties: Bubba knows SOMEONE is going to be highly incensed over this column.

VOICE OF THE PEOPLE: Albert Smith, urging Bentonites to speak up!

BACK OVER YOUR TALES: From the pages of the January/February 2011 edition of Disclosure: Edwards County Senior Center; Jackie Buckner charged; Jesse Carpenter's mess in Richland; Raymond and Tina Martin divorce; Rick Rucker arrested; more.
