SALINE/WHITE COs.— A Carmi man connected with one of the biggest methamphetamine round-ups in White County in recent years has been busted in Harrisburg.
According to information filed in the case, on March 21, Phillip W. Sandusky, 40, of 522 Smith Dr., Carmi, committed the offense of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, when he was found to have less than five grams of the drug on his person; Driving Revoked, after he was driving on Locust Street in Eldorado at a time when he knew his license had been revoked and had been convicted of same on at least three occasions; and Resisting a Peace Officer when he thought it was a good idea to run from Eldorado Chief Shannon Deuel and officer Jerod Gott.
Sandusky is certainly no stranger to the meth world and has an extensive criminal history in White County including a conviction November 13, 2000 for Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine wherein he was sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) for seven and a half years.
He was arrested February 12, 2010 and charged with Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Precursors 15-30 grams, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Manufacturing Materials, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine and Unlawful Possession of Anhydrous Ammonia.
Sandusky pleaded guilty to the manufacturing material charge in return for the remainder of the charges being dismissed and was ultimately sentenced to IDOC for another nine years.
He earned himself another IDOC sentence of 18 months when he was convicted September 30 of Driving Revoked.
At the time of his Harrisburg arrest, Sandusky was out on bond in a November 7, 2015, White County case in which he is charged with Driving Revoked and Resisting a Peace Officer.
Sandusky was released from Saline County custody March 23, after he was the recipient of a $1,000 cash bond provided by Carie Strean, who happens to be at the center of a 10-person drug sweep including numerous suspected dealers and cooks (see related story in Central section).
