CODY WARD

CODY WARD

SALINE CO. – The utter dysfunction that inhabits the crim world in Saline County is highlighted in the first featured misdemeanor of July’s report, as it appears the law is keeping up with the Joneses.

Specifically, John M. Jones, 28, and his wife Valerie Grace Jones, 26, who are apparently either back together (or still together), this after the missus Jones had taken up with a notable Eldorado crim last year, Cody Ward, the slippery little guy who was able to get away from ’rado authorities after an alleged burglary of Beck’s Drugs in early August.

Crim-on-crim crime…

It doesn’t appear that Mr. Jones is any happier with the missus than he was probably about a year ago, if his actions on July 11 are any indication.

On that day, at their abode on the 700 block of West Charleston Street in Harrisburg, they got into an altercation for no apparent reason other than the Mr. Jones was drinking beer and didn’t like something the Missus said to one of the children in the home, Joshua, age 5, this according to a police report.

After the Mister calling the Missus a name for a female dog, and after an alleged confrontation in which he was said to have shoved her, she is said to have picked up “her son, Bryson Ward, age 2” (in quotes because that’s apparently not Mr. Jones’ son; Mrs. Jones has bred freely with as many as four locals, as documented thus far), and Mr. Jones is said to have head-butted her, causing a swelling under her eye where his head struck her.

Then, it was alleged that Mr. Jones threw Mrs. Jones to the floor while she was holding what was ostensibly Mr. Ward’s kid, which might account for some rage, as the Joneses are still married.

Another Ward, 15-year-old Callie (there’s no indication of whose kid she is, but she’s way too old for the Joneses to have bred her, so she’s likely some sort of relative of Cody), was present, and called the cops, after which Mr. Jones allegedly went after her, shoving her and throwing her across one of the kids’ rooms.

Mr. Jones was arrested and taken to the Saline County Detention Center, held on a thousand-dollar cash bond.

He was formally charged July 13 with a count of Domestic Battery for head-butting his wife; a count of same for shoving Callie Ward; and a count of Endangering the Life or Health of a Child for placing the two-year-old in danger while head-butting his wife.

Mr. Jones remains in the SCDC, unable to post bond as of press time (July 24).

This battery takes a back seat

Another misdemeanor Domestic Battery was filed on July 15, this one against Christian M. Frields-Faughn, 24, of South Webster Street in Harrisburg.

The charge accuses Faughn of a June 29 incident wherein he made physical contact of an insulting or provoking nature with a family member, Colton T. Faughn, by shoving and slapping him.

A warrant for his arrest was issued; it hadn’t been served as of press time.

Misdemeanor sex crime

A sex crime of the misdemeanor variety was charged on July 13 when it was alleged that a Patrick S. Marks, 18, of Panama Street in Eldorado, had sex with a female who was at least 13 years of age but under 17 (the age of consent in Illinois) on July 7.

The charge is a misdemeanor because Marks was less than five years older than the female, RRLK, when it occurred, meaning that she’s between the ages of 14 and 16.

The charge of Criminal Sexual Abuse prompted a warrant with a $750 bond attached.

That warrant hadn’t been served as of press time.

Ordinance violations

A handful of Ordinance Violations from the various burgs across Saline were handed out in late June through July, with notices to appear in court.

These OVs are in place in order to keep minor violators out of the courtroom in Saline County, where prosecutors have bigger things to do like deal with murderers and child molesters as oppose to petty criminal damagers or the occasional pot smoker. Each city’s attorney is supposed to handle the prosecution in court, although that doesn’t always happen.

That said, the OVs were handed out this past month to:

MOLLI HOLCOMB

MOLLI HOLCOMB

Molli Holcomb, 28, of Eldorado, accused on June 26 of and Eldorado Disorderly Conduct count after allegedly yelling and cursing at a neighbor and threatening to cause harm to a 9-year-old juvenile; as well, she was handed a citation for Assault in the same situation, wherein she is alleged to have threatened to “beat her f*&king head in” regarding the juvenile, and one for Disorderly Conduct for beating on the neighbor’s door and throwing an egg at her door (if a citation could be handed out for acting like a 12-year-old, it’s a pretty sure bet she’d have gotten one of those, too);

Holly N. Foerster, 25, of Galatia, accused on June 28 of an Eldorado Damage to Property count in that she’s accused of breaking a window belonging to Justin Marvel;

Heather N. Thomas, 25, of Harrisburg, accused June 28 of a Harrisburg OV, Animal Running at Large;

April O. Sumner, 37, of Harrisburg, accused on June 29 of Destroying or Injuring property of another on Indiana Street in Harrisburg;

Kashmere (Kash) Barners, 22, of Eldorado, accused on July 1 of a Harrisburg Battery OV;

KASHMERE BARNERS

KASHMERE BARNERS

Brian L. Byrd, 42, of Harrisburg, accused July 2 of a Harrisburg OV Battery on South Commercial Street at Citgo;

Cody B. Hamby, 34, of Harrisburg, accused of a July 5 Harrisburg Theft OV taking place at 425 West Sloan Street;

James M. Denton, 27, of Harrisburg, accused on July 6 of a Harrisburg Battery OV at Sloan Street to South Main Street to Park Street (that victim must’ve allegedly gotten beaten all along the way);

Logan R. McCann, 19, of Mahomet (where the now-deceased and infamous Dracy Clint Pendleton was shot before he fled to Pope County; small world), who might’ve been Denton’s alleged victim, as he’s accused of a July 6 Harrisburg OV of destroying or injuring property of another from Sloan Street to South Main Street to Park Street; he’s also accused of Disorderly Conduct in the same incident;

Caleb L. Rinehart, 25, of Eldorado, accused of an Eldorado Criminal Damage to Property OV after allegedly shattering the apartment window of Gina N. Sager on June 19 (it wasn’t filed until July 8)

Derrick L. McCoy, 27, of Harrisburg, cited in a Harrisburg OV of Accumulation of Garbage and Debris on 208 E. Logan Street (apparently some of the OV cops haven’t been very far up into the midtown area…);

Randall J. Pickering, 37, of Carrier Mills, cited with two Harrisburg OVs of Theft June 23 from Walmart (the citation wasn’t issued until July 13).
