POPE CO., Ill. - A young Tennessee man who drowned in a Pope County lake Saturday remains unidentified by authorities pending notification of all family.

The incident occurred just before 2 p.m. Saturday, August 6, when the 20-year-old and friends were in the water at One Horse Gap Lake in Pope County.

A 911 call got out of the area (miraculous for Garden of the Gods-based OHGL-area) at 1:52 p.m. and Pope County's Sheriff's Department, as well as the county's Fire Department and other first responders arrived quickly, but to no avail.

The young man was camping at GotG with friends.

When the identification is made public. we'll put up a separate post.
