FRANKLIN CO, Ill. - Illinois State Police said that a man from Sesser lost his life in a single-vehicle crash that occurred at about 10:30 p.m.last night, Tuesday, January 2.
ISP said that preliminary reports indicate a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser was being driven northbound on Illinois Route 184 in Franklin County by Ricky Knight, 42, of Sesser.
Approximately a quarter-mile south of Route 14, the vehicle left the roadway on the curve and struck a culvert, causing it to overturn.
Knight, ISP reports, was unrestrained, and was ejected from the vehicle.
Knight was transported to Marshall Browning Hospital in DuQuoin, where he was pronounced deceased.
ISP attributed the incident to Failure to Reduce Speed and Improper Lane Usage.
