SALINE CO. – Saline County’s State’s Attorney is headed for divorce court.
In a move that was somewhat surprising to some and yet which some believe explains a lot, Saline County State’s Attorney Jayson Clark, 41, filed for divorce from his wife and mother of their two small children (ages 7 and 8), Krystal June Clark, 29, on May 2.
Documents on file show that the two were married in May of 2009, and are currently residing in Eldorado but at different addresses.
Krystal is the owner and operator of a flower shop in ’rado, June’s Bloom Boutique.
Clark has been State’s Attorney since the death of Mike Henshaw in March of 2017, put in place via Democrat Party caucus in the wake of Henshaw’s unexpected death. Clark had, up to that point, been an Assistant State’s Attorney in Saline since late 2013.
The only hint in the files of the problem that prompted the divorce is “irreconcilable differences.”
Complaints have been bandied about in Saline for about the past year, however, regarding Clark’s performance at his job. Now, those who have been complaining believe they’ve identified the problem, which would be the marital dischord.
The same thing struck Henshaw when he was a judge many years ago, prompting a divorce-while-in-office, which took a long time to die down but which happens to even the best of public officials, so Clark is in good company.
Unfortunately, such civil action creates a situation wherein other public officials – namely, judges – aren’t ethically able to handle such a case; so far, three judges (Walden Morris, Todd Lambert, and Joe Leberman) have had to recuse themselves.
As a result, things are a little delayed while the case has been handed over to the Chief Judge of the First Circuit to determine assignment. As of May 10, there had been no judge yet appointed to the case.
