POPE CO.— A Harrisburg man already awaiting trial in Saline County on charges of having massive amounts of cannabis has now been charged in Pope County for the same thing.
In the wake of state’s attorney Jayson Clark seemingly not being able to manage the caseload coming into his office, his criminals, most out on bond, are beginning to overflow into neighboring counties.
Case in point: on December 31, 2017, Michael Taylor Marcum, 30, of the 1400 block of South Washington St., Harrisburg, was stopped on Raymond Street by Harrisburg Police Chief Michael Riden after Riden spotted him operating a vehicle and knew his license to be suspended.
Marcum was ultimately booked into the county jail on the driving suspension and one count of Unlawful Possession of Cannabis 100-500 grams.
Oddly enough, there is no indication of Marcum posting the $500 cash bond set in the case.
Posted or not, Marcum was back on the street in Pope County June 10 and being arrested by state trooper Derek Key on charges of Unlawful Possession of Cannabis 100-500 grams and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, identified as a cannabis smoking pipe with cannabis residue found inside.
Cash bond in the case was reduced July 2 from $2,500 to $1,000.
