high speed chase

SALINE/JOHNSON CO., Ill.—The high-speed chase that ensued a little earlier today is still under investigation by authorities between Saline and Johnson counties, but it’s been confirmed by official sources that one man is in custody in Johnson County presently.

We’ve confirmed that the chase kicked off in Harrisburg following a routine traffic stop, and led out to Carrier Mills back to 145, then 45 to Johnson County, then Thunderhawk Road headed east. Authorities have confirmed that the chase involved as many as ten police vehicles from different agencies and reached speeds as high as 120 miles per hour.

In the end, Dylan Street, 24, reportedly of Ozark, Illinois, was apprehended in Johnson County, where it was learned that he allegedly ran because there was a warrant either for failure to appear on a Saline County issue, or a pending felony warrant. We’re still running that down and will have more on the matter in an update.

No one was injured in the chase, which caused quite a bit of consternation, as some of it took place in residential areas and where the speed limit was low, such as in the Mills.

Updates as we can get them; keep checking back.
