PALESTINE, Ill. - Palestine and Crawford County officials made a stop last night that was somewhat stunningly multi-county...and brought in a girl who was part of a huge controversy in Jasper County a few months back.
On the official side of it, Chief Besing issued a press release as follows:
Palestine Police Officer Brandon Carpenter initiated a vehicle stop on a gray Dodge truck at Porter and Rush streets at approximately 4:10 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, June 21 in reference to a passenger not wearing a seat belt.
As a result of this vehicle stop, Officer Carpenter found the driver, Dakota W. Clark, 19 of Eldorado, to be in possession of a suspended drivers license. Clark was then placed under arrest.
As Officer Carpenter ran a warrants check on the female passenger, she was identified as Tifani B. Lindemann, 18 from Newton, who was wanted on a Failure to Appear warrant out of Effingham County for Possession of Methamphetamine. Lindemann was then placed under arrest for the warrant and also issued a traffic citation for Failure to Wear a Seat Belt.
Both subjects were transported to the Crawford County Jail where they were charged, processed and held pending payment of bond.
Assisting Officer Carpenter with this traffic stop was Sgt. Rich Cravens, Crawford County Sheriff's Office.
End presser
Why Clark is up in Crawford County, several removed from Saline, is unknown, but he's been part of a couple of articles here over the years, including one in 2014 wherein he had just a peripheral mention. He has nothing in Saline but traffic at this point (one of them being Driving Unlicensed, back in early October, for which he pled guilty and was issued a fine, but of course he's still driving around unlicensed)...but given who he's hanging with, that all might change.
Lindemann is the teen whose meth arrest in Altamont (Effingham County) back in March made the front page of the Newton paper, because that's where she's from, and E-ham County is right next door, so it'd make sense, right? But noooooooo....people raised a fuss about the coverage, which prompted us to produce this piece that was very well-received...except by a member of the Earnest family, who pitched a fit that their little meth felon, Daisha Earnest, 18, of Jasper County, was featured in the pic you see here. They tried to tell us she was underage. They tried to tell us they were "gunna SEWWWWWW" us. All they did was give us material for another post, which, if it turns out to be a slow news day today, I'll bring to you because it's hilarious times a million, a la this post about an airhead from Williamson County who doesn't know how it works.
At any rate, lil Tie-Fan-Eye's bond has been revoked in Effingham County. For the next issue, we're going to head up there and do a little background on everybody involved, so look for it. In the meantime, all of the June-July editions are now delivered, so I encourage you to get out and get one, since every issue is just a gem and shouldn't be missed. If you can't get out and get a hard copy, hit this link to get started on the e-Edition. And we'll be researching what on earth a kid from Eldorado was doing in Palestine at all...and with a girl from Jasper County with a meth charge in Effingham. It's beginning to appear there's some kind of "running" going on...and probably not the marathon kind, either. More as we get it. Be watching, mark your feeds, and like our pages...things are getting heavy in southern Illinois, and we're here to cover ALL of it.
