SALINE CO.— An Eldorado convicted drug felon finds himself facing multiple drug charges.
Details filed in the case allege that on September 4, Carl E. Payne, 27, 3011 Chestnut St., Eldorado, committed the offense of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine after authorities found more than 100 grams of meth on his person.
But meth wasn’t the only dope police say Payne had in his stash.
He is also said to have had hydrocodone, oxycodone and phentermine (a prescription stimulant) on his person, which resulted in three additional felony counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Payne was taken into custody November 18, 2013 and charged with Burglary, Theft, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, Unlawful Possession of Burglary Tools and Resisting a Peace Officer.
On December 9, 2014 he pleaded to the burglary charge and an Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance charge from a June 17, 2014 case in return for the remainder of the charges being dismissed and a sentence to the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) for four years and $839 in fines and fees.
A motion has been filed in Payne’s most recent case asking the court to seize $1,071 in cash Payne had on his person when he was arrested.
Cash bond in his most recent case was set at $5,000.
