HARDIN CO., Ill.—In an attempt to clarify what was reported earlier and to correct what other media have been reporting, we traveled to Hardin County and spoke with Sheriff JT Fricker.
The sheriff has advised that what was located at a spot on the Ohio outside of Rosiclare was found, not by a dive team, but by a search crew out on a boat using a sonar ping.
An object that appeared to be a vehicle—unclear what kind—showed up on the ping, and so the state police were called in to secure a law enforcement dive team instead of one provided by a search group.
There has been no indication that this is Chrissy Williams’ vehicle.
Our correspondent is in Rosiclare and has advised that the state police dive team has been successful in attaching tow lines to the object and are going to attempt to bring it to the surface. We don’t know how long this will take.
