MURPHYSBORO, Ill.—Authorities are involved in an armed standoff in the city of Murphysboro at this hour, and have been dealing with it for most of the day.
Sources in Murphysboro tell us the situation evolved earlier with a guy who barricaded himself in his home, which is located at the vicinity of 18th and Pine streets, and has claimed he is armed.
Police evacuated the area around the man’s home, and have been speaking to him via bullhorn, attempting to negotiate a surrender.
We have an identity but are withholding it for now.
No one has been harmed in the incident, and authorities are saying that they’re going to continue to try and talk the man out; if you’re in the vicinity, please be aware and don’t take any chances.
